AOC and Fellow Progressives: It's Time to Ditch the DNC

The American two-party set-up is the fossil-fuel industry of political systems – archaic and toxic to the vast majority of Americans. That’s why the Democrats and true American Progressives now need to part company.

The best interests of the American people are not represented by an oscillating two-party set-up, both of which rely on big corporate dollars and lobbyists on steroids.

Every day, further evidence comes to light to show us just how out of touch the DNC / Democrats are with the real needs and wishes of the American people. When E. Jean Carroll came forward to allege that she too had been a historic victim of serious sexual assault at the hands of Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi’s reply was tepid to say the least:

“I don’t know the people you are referencing, I don’t know the person making the accusation. I haven’t paid that much attention to it…I don’t know what Congress’ role would be in any of this…”

Here’s the difference. The American people most certainly are paying attention to the fact that yet another woman has come forward to allege the sitting President of sexual assault. If Pelosi is trying to champion the rights of women with the newly elected Democrat House, she needs to start doing a much better job of doing so.

But it’s not just that – far from it. While the Democrats are good at making superficial noises about the horrifying Trump camps for immigrants on the southern border for example, the follow-up action is anemic.

While Pelosi has been vocal about this of late, it beggars belief that she and the majority of House Democrats then recently voted in favor of Mitch McConnell’s $4.6 billion bill for funding immigration authorities, but, and tellingly, without any humanitarian provision within it. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley, genuine Democrat Progressives, denounced the absence of such provision and voted against, but the DNC apparatus ensured that the bill passed regardless.

Showing her true colors, Pelosi subsequently took a swipe at the four dissenting Representatives, stating: “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world…but they didn’t have any following.

They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.” On how many levels of wrongness can Speaker Pelosi simultaneously be? The majority of the American people want more of the like of Ocasio-Cortez and less of the establishment-backed, Vichy-style strategy of Pelosi and the DNC / Democratic Party.

Understandably, Ocasio-Cortez swung back at Pelosi to put her firmly on her place, tweeting:

“That public. whatever it is called public sentiment. And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country.”

And the sorry state of the DNC / Democratic Party doesn’t just stop there. Take climate change for example. While the rest of the world and the overwhelming majority of Americans can see exactly what is coming and are looking to do something about this, the DNC are in the midst of much hand-wringing as to whether the subject should be up for debate. Rather like having a discussion as to whether or not to hit the brakes as the car speeds toward the edge of a very tall cliff, action is needed and needed now.

The fact the DNC are dragging their feet about something as important as this simply underlines that they remain firmly in the hypnotic gaze of their vested interest donors and other corporate vultures.

The fundamental problem is that the DNC / Democratic Party is still run by, and for the benefit of, out of touch dinosaur style grandees such as not only Nancy Pelosi, but now presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Spokesman for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Corbin Trent, recently went further in the critique of the DNC / Democratic Party stating that:

“The greatest threat to mankind is the cowardice of Democratic Party” and that the leadership of the Democratic Party is “driven by fear.”

And now is most certainly not the time for fear. Biden is yet another example of why true Progressives need to part ways with the Democrats. The recent highlighting of Biden’s de facto celebration of working with sworn segregationists should be a major alarm bell to any Progressive.

In a different time, although not all that long ago, working with fascists to any degree was commonly known as collaboration – something that was as morally objectionable then as it is now.

Biden can try and hide his suspect past behind having been Obama’s vice-President all he wants. The fact is that that means Obama and the DNC selected him because he would appeal to the racists. Biden must run on his own record and held accountable for that.

Further, the DNC and Biden are stuck on 1970's federally mandated busing policies in the age of Uber & Lyft. It is like they are frozen in time.

Throughout history, political parties either evolve or perish. Consequently, after losing to Trump, the unscrupulous handling of Andrew Yang, the loss of two Supreme Court justices, watching our young die and Puerto Rico suffer, leaving 800,000 Dreamers in limbo, and not fully embracing cannabis legalization to reduce mass incarceration and generate revenue, we will no longer blindly follow the DNC off the cliff into political irrelevance.

We are done fighting a cyber-war with WWII / Biden style tactics.

In stark contrast, take Andrew Yang’s Universal Basic Income – something that is integral to our future in an increasingly automated world. According to Yang:

In the next 12 years, 1 out of 3 American workers is at risk of losing their jobs to new technologies—and unlike with previous waves of automation, this time new jobs will not appear quickly enough in large enough numbers to make up for it.

To avoid an unprecedented crisis, we’re going to have to find a new solution, unlike anything we’ve done before.

The Civil War ended in 1865. The DNC has had 154 years to eradicate the Confederacy, now Trump. We will no longer blindly follow the DNC off the cliff to irrelevance. We are done fighting a cyberwar with WWll and Biden’s tactics. In lieu of reparations,

Fellow Americans, we must heal old wounds and prepare for future technological advances.

The DNC / Democrats will never truly take on the establishment because the harsh fact of the matter is that they are part of that same establishment. That’s why as long as we continue to oscillate between a rabidly right-wing Republican Party and a Democratic Party that is just a more tempered version of that, then there will never be real change and social justice in the U.S. A Democratic Party that is deemed to be “the lesser of the two evils” is still deemed to be evil by that very same definition.

Enough is enough with the Democrats wanting to continually square political circles and letting the American people down time after time. The only way Americans will ever get to see meaningful change, such as common-sense gun control, action on climate change, a fully reformed and humane system of immigration, universal basic income and universal single-payer health- care, is with a genuine Progressive movement.
